with a big gulp....the process has begun...Pics coming soon!

Since July when I bought it, I have been planning the "Big" paint change and dismantling of my K-10. I am leaving for work in Jamaica tomorrow 12/1 (tiling a wealthy womens beach house)...I know rough job... so I took my truck into Surcore this morning. Surcore is a Denver based company that specializes in Plastic Media blasting and restorations of all kinds. Check their web site at www.surcore.com Anyway they are going to remove the bed, strip it to bare metal, weld up all the holes from the trim and stake bed spots, do all and any body work, and then spray it with an orange tinted acid etching primer. The truck is going to be done in two stages, bed 1st, and then the cab. So when I return from Jamaica on the 8th I will drive the truck home with the striped and primed bed attached to my truck, then remove the bed and start dismantling the cab. I am then going to trailer the disaamebled cab to Surcore for the media blasting and priming. When the cab is done I will take the "ready to go" bed back the Surcore for it's first and final base coats of #524 Hugger Orange. It will be shot with clear to finish the paint job. While the cab and bed are being painted the frame is going over to a local powder coating shop for it's work. Here's a pic of what it looks like before the change. I am very excited about the beginning of this process and just want to share with you guys.

Hugger orange is, i believe, the perfect color for our trucks. You will love it when finished.

ChevyDude -

How much are they charging you to blast the cab -

I just got a quote of $350 to blast the cab, and another $150 to prime it.

Just wondering how that compares to the pricing you got.

Thanks!

Because I am doing it in stages and started with the bed I have not got a quote yet "per-say" for that actual charge for blasting the cab. When I pick up th truck today I will ask and post what he says.

Just picked up the truck....my camera is charging. I will post pics in an hour or so before I start to take the bed back off the truck.

I'm having trouble compressing the pics so I'm a little delayed until I figure it out
