Help please...window glass lift plate
Anyone know how to replace the door window glass with new lift plates? I got the old glass out, new lift plates and a roll of the tape stuff. It appears the tape justs folds over the bottom edge of the glass and sits in the channel? It came with no instructions and I'll be darned to find anything on the web.

Re: Help please...window glass lift plate
TKCR- thank you!
My new channels mic'd at about 2.8" whereas the old rusted originals mic'd at 2.25". Needless to say, the tape LMC sent isn't thick enough to fill the gap. It's always something! |

I would check with Precision Seals. They may have the correct size.

Re: Help please...window glass lift plate
The local glass shop calls it "packing tape". Fortunately they stock several thickness of it. I'll tote the glass and lift bar down there after work. Remarkable how many different names these parts are called:
Sash, Horizontal Lift Bar, Glass Channel, Glazing Tape, Packing Tape... |

Re: Help please...window glass lift plate
They had a few different thickness of tape but none of them alone was enough to fill the gap. By combining two of them we made it work. She said it was typical of aftermarket parts to err on the side of too much clearance. Typical LMC!
