V8 engine mount help
I have a 68 with a 327 v8 and a factory 3 speed on the column that I have owned and drove for the last 30 years. I have pulled the sbc to install a 700r4 transmission and a few other upgrades. I am looking for some help with the engine mounts that bolt to the frame, they are in the “back” holes, I believe it originally had a 6 cylinder.
Can I use the current engine stands and move them to the front holes with the same engine? I moved them ahead after I pulled the engine but have not reinstalled the engine yet. Would they be the same? The only thing I can see I need to do is to drill a new hole for the bottom bolt on each side of the front frame cross member. Thanks for any help.

Re: V8 engine mount help
No the six cylinder mounts you have are shaped wrong for the front location. You need to get V8 mounts and mount them to the front holes on the frame and cross member.

Re: V8 engine mount help
Thanks Katrina/10,
That’s what I was planning to do and was going to check it out before I purchased new ones. Thanks! Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: V8 engine mount help
I know what you want to do will work, but remember I have no idea whether it locates the engine in exactly the right place. I had to relocate the transmission crossmember for the 700R4 so that didn't matter. Maybe someone who actually knows the difference will respond.
