Cool 4x4

The guy up the road from me owns this Land Cruiser. He uses to get into his cabin in the winter. He says it runs through the snow at about 35 mph, steers good, but damn hard to stop.

Does it steer like a normal vehicle or by changing the speeds of the tracks on left and right?

The tracks steer just like a normal vehicle. There are control arms that mount on the chassis that keep the backets assemblies from turning on themselves. He said he can pull the tracks off, and have it on tires in about two hours.

Mattracks

Here's a link to a company called MATTRACKS that offers the conversions. Looks like they offer a conversion for most vehicles, up to 1 1/2 ton.

I just worked on that about 2 weeks ago. That drinks about 20 gal of gas in 16 miles, through about 2-3 feet of snow. The bolt on conversion is about 35k. and for the larger trucks is in upwards of 50-60k

Snow cat

Road in a regular 6 passenger snow cat yesterday at work. Rough riding and slow but sticker on dash said not to exceed 57° slope. Woah baby that would be fun.
