Fans and clutches

I was at the junkyard on saturday and picked up a new fan for my '67 while i was getting the front end parts. The fan I had in it was a flex fan with no clutch. So, I found a fan with a clutch on a sbc and brought it home. Well it don't fit. The clutch bolt pattern is bigger than the one on my water pump. So I drilled it with the right pattern and the find out the blades are too big for my fan shroud. What fans fit these? Are there any fans with clutches that will work or should I go back to the stock or flex fan?

In order to get one that'll fit properly, you'll need to find a vehicle with a short water pump. The bolt patter chainged when they went to the long pump hence why it didn't fit your pump.
I don't know the price, but you can get a clutch at the parts store...pretty much any one of them should be able to get you something. A H.D. one would be best...more likely to be a temp activated one instead of a visous clutch set up.

Longhorn, I priced the new clutch at about $75 and the fan at about $40 for new stuff. Thanks for the scoop about long and short pumps that is where my problem lies. I'll see if I can find a short pump clutch.
