Is it worth it to upgrade to rubber A arm bushings? (69 C10)

I'm considering rebuilding the front suspension of my daily driver 1969 C10. I have been getting a bit of a banging sound on rough roads and suspect it's my control arm bushings. Would it be worth it to swap the cross member and suspension with one from a later truck to get the rubber bushings and better part availability? I currently have drums and stock height. I don't care much either way about drums vs disk or lowering it. I realize I'll have to switch to 5 lug wheels. I do a lot of gravel road driving and am hoping maybe it will improve the ride a little. I also like the idea of being able to clean/rebuild everything while still driving my truck so it's not out of service for too long! Is it worth the effort in the end or should I bite the bullet and just learn how to replace these goofy metal bushings?

Just rebuild what you have. It will last longer.

As a matter of fact, I bet if you grease up the control arm shafts, ball joints and steering and tighten the nuts and bolts holding your cross member to the frame and suspension to the cross member, your noise will be gone.
