Dana 60 Power Lock Questions

I picked up a complete D60 limited slip on Craigslist for a couple hundred bucks. Guy said it came out of a 69 GMC 3/4 ton. Are the spring perches the same on a 2x4 and a 4x4? I have no idea if it came out of a two wheel drive truck or a four wheel drive. I am wanting to put this under my 72 c20 because the d60 is an open diff and it is very tired. I am hoping it will bolt right in.

Also would 69 be a power lock or a trac lock? From looking at it I think it is a power lock. I jacked one wheel off the ground and turned it and it had good resistance so I think the clutches are still in good shape.

Re: Dana 60 Power Lock Questions

Spring centers are 40.5" on the 4x4 and 42.5" on the 4x2. Except one tons which have 40.5" springs centers. And Longhorns in 2500 or 3500 variety which are 40.5"

Longhorns and 4x4 are on 2 1/2" width springs. 2x4 on 2 1/4". Not sure on C30 as I have not had anything but square body one tons.

Most likely a PowerLock I think. But I'm sure it needs the fluid changed. Pull the cover and you will know.

Re: Dana 60 Power Lock Questions

Thanks for all the info. I popped the cover off and it’s a power lock. I’ll measure the perches and see if it will bolt right in. Fingers crossed.

If it isn't the perches can be moved or you have what you need to go into your truck's rear at some point. You still have a good thing either way is what I'm saying.
