Chevy SS Tonneau Top by Jeff

Didn’t like the choice of tonneau tops for my truck n really didn’t like the price so I decided to try n make 1 myself. Bought the tonneau material online for $68 shipped, some strut n 2 x4s from Menards n drew up a plan, never have done this before but this might help some guys if u want to try it. Have under $150 in it n its what I wanted. Photos attached not done yet, need to put on weatherstripping n struts. I’m going to use struts from the 06 trailblazer that I saved n a tailgate handle assembly from salvage yard. The top weighs probably around 50lbs. See what u think.

Thanks Jim, I really like ur roadster maybe cause I love convertibles, nothing like riding with the top down. I didn’t see a photo with the top on, did I miss it?

looks good, great job. if you wanted a hard top later you could also easily sheet it with veneer and then fiberglass it. maybe sand it down a bit first to allow room for the thickness of the fiberglass woven roving mat and the gel coat.
