what is this part?

I have a 1969 k10 with a 307 engine and a Rochester 2gv carb, on the rear of the carb it has a tee fitting that I think hooks to the pcv, but it has some kind of a square vale on it . anyone know what it is ? can I bypass it?

Re: what is this part?

That's a new one on me! Must be a truck thing. I've never seen one on a car, in all my years of mechanical repair. Based on that, I'd say take it off, but save it for the day when someone does know what it is. Is there a part number on it?

Re: what is this part?

It’s a turbo incabulator Steve!
Or maybe not. JK!
Likely a handy bull plug from a hot water tank that just happened to fit.
Could replace the whole thing with a barbed fitting that a pcv hose will hook too.
Here’s an example of what a barbed fitting looks like. Available in the size you need at the hardware store.

Re: what is this part?

I think it is a sort of hot idle compensator.
