Engine decode
Well, I dropped by the place that's doing my engine swap and pulled the numbers off the block. Here's what I was able to decipher. Maybe somebody else has additional (or conflicting) numbers?
Front Stamp is V0721WK which I believe decodes to a 255HP 350 cu in engine built in Flint Michigan on Monday, July 21, 1969 equipped with a 4BBL and a TH automatic all destined for a C10 (or larger) truck. The casting number is 3970010 which helps to confirm it's a 69-80 350. Given that most of the 010 blocks had 4-bolt mains, I'm guessing that's what this one's got, too. The heads are later model 624 castings (based on the mark and not the actual number) which probably means they're 76cc heads from a 75-86 350 or 400. I didn't grab the intake numbers, but it's a ribbed casting and the Quadrajet has an electric choke. Anyway, as you can tell, I'm a numbers geek. If somebody has additional information, I'd love to hear it!
