Stock Interior Sheen?
Hi Folks,
Been lurking here awhile but this is my first post with question, I think. I am doing a body-off resto of a 67 c10 longbed. I want to go bare bones, full stock, 250 ci, white trim, medium blue poly color, radio delete, etc. to match my first vehicle when I turned 16. I am to the point of laying paint on the cab and have a question: What was the sheen of the painted surfaces on the interior of the cab? My recollection is that is was less glossy than the exterior but am struggling to visualize if everything/anything inside was muted gloss, just parts, or what. I apologize if there is a thread already here I did not find while searching but could really use some expertise. Thank you in advance!! |

Re: Stock Interior Sheen?
Top of dash was matte finish....ask at the paint Store if possible. You might get a better answer posting in the paint section here and or use the search button.

The original paint on the interior of my truck is the same color and gloss as the exterior except the top of the dash as mentioned above.

Please post pics of your truck as you paint and the final product. Would love to see them. I have a 67 C10 that is rust now but will do medium blue metallic with the medium fawn poly interior.

Re: Stock Interior Sheen?
'67s were unique from the 68-72s in that only the optional trim package trucks got painted to match exterior paint and that was same paint in and out. On a plain Jane you got one of a few close match to the interior trim paint and that didn't seem so glossy. There were shades of Fawn, blue, and green, all metallic paints but not much sheen. What color are your seat, visors, and such?
Here is a mid-level '67 GMC with Fawn interior

Re: Stock Interior Sheen?
If you want to get real picky, the dash color is NOT just the body color flattened. That makes sense, but GM didn't have that many colors handy.
They had, for example, one flat blue. They used that same flat blue on my Glacier Blue Camaro and my Dark Blue truck and my light blue Parisienne. So finding the right "dash" color can be hard... though who's going to judge it at that level?

Re: Stock Interior Sheen?
My '67 K/10 Suburban has a Fawn interior. The exterior is white.
My '68 C/10 Stepside is 516 Orange outside, and inside, but trim items like the door panels, steering wheel and column, sunvisors, belts, seat vinyl, and dash pad were all Fawn or a similar grey.

Re: Stock Interior Sheen?
The original language specified ''Fawn, irredescent, suede, poly.'' Which could be translated from Olde GM-ese as Silver-tan, metallic, semi-gloss, if my decoder ring is not too corroded by time.

Re: Stock Interior Sheen?
Ah, When I think suede I think "suede"-the color, but I'll bet your decoder ring is right, "suede" is the finish. Thanx

Re: Stock Interior Sheen?
In this era velvet or suede paint was a thing. Kinda like Hot Rod Flatz is now only that is actually a semi-gloss and suede has a fuzzy texture/flat in sheen, like flat primer
