Where to find the E-brake?

Hey guys, the PO didn’t think an e-brake was needed so he cut the entire system out. I would like to replace it but am having a heck of a time finding the parts (aside from cables). I would like to go with the original hand style since I’m also going to add speakers to the kick panel. Anyone know who makes this? Or where I can find some NOS? Thanks

Hunt the classifieds, or become a member and post a want to buy in the classifieds. Be aware there are differences between SWB and LWB, coil springs and leaf springs, 4wd and 2wd.

SOKY has some of the individual parts and so does LMC. You can buy the cables (whether it be the front cable or rear cables) from Rock Auto.

You might check Ebay too - a couple of years ago I found one that was powedercoated silver, and went well with the interior.

Well crud. This looks like it’s going to be worse than a needle in a hay stack. Could any of you give me reasons why stock style would be better than the pedal setup? Thanks for the advise!

Thanks. I need everything. it’s the handle that is the needle in the hay stack and why I’m wondering if the pedal style would be the way to go.

Firewall is slightly different between 67-68 with the lever type and 69-72 when they used the pedal style parking brake. Moved the fuse box over to get it out of the way and added the mounting holes for the pedal assembly mounting studs.

The mounting holes are no big deal but the fuse box and wire harness being in the way is a bigger problem. I looked at putting the pedal type into my 67 Suburban but it wasn't going to work without getting a new under dash harness for a 69-72 model. The wires in the 67 harness just didn't reach where they needed to go after you moved the fuse box out of the way. You are better off sticking with the lever type parking brake design the truck came with.

I have a spare handle mechanism from my 67 C10 truck that I ended up cannibalizing for parts to fix some of my other projects due to its excessive floor rot. I had plans for it but I might be willing to part with it for your project. I think it has the first section of cable that connects to the handle and attaches to the frame as well. If it does it is for a long bed. You would need a different one if your truck is a short bed.

The handle part is the same for all of them, just the first section of cable that attaches to it is different. The length of cable coming out of the housing is different by application.

I was hoping this was the case but I’m learning (from all of you, thanks!) that there are so many little things that are unique and limited to 1 or 2 years. At the same time the work arounds that have been invented are genius!

Side note: thanks for teaching all of us newbies with patience and kindness. This site never makes us feel stupid for not knowing. You all are so welcoming.

This is not so complicated. Look in the parts board. People part whole trucks and I see the 67/68 C/K 10-30 handles from time to time. As suggested, pay for a subscription and post a WTB. You may get immediate results. You can joint for less than a year, but a year is $25. It would cost me that much in gas to run to a junk yard
