Re: Underhood detailing

I used Walmart brand oven cleaner and pressure washed everything. Then I used a putty knife to get all the grease out of all the nooks and crannies. Then I just shot it with a fresh coat of satin black (I think that’s right...) and it looks AMAZING. I would highly recommend this for anyone. It’s not perfect, but it works for my rig.

Re: Underhood detailing

Paint the firewall along with all wiring etc., black or flat black like most truck on craigslist....then pressure wash so some comes off.

Seriously now, the firewall paint polishes up super easy with rubbing compound.
Remove inner fenders, sand and paint.
Scrub wiring with carb cleaner.
Remove booster, sandblast ot wire wheel and paint, them install.

Re: Underhood detailing

Lift hood, check oil level, coolant level, brake fluid level, give engine belts and hoses a visual, close hood..... detail complete.

Thumbs up Re: Underhood detailing

I'm fixing to do just this tomorrow to my daughters 68 stepper!
I bought 6 cans of oven cleaner today. Tomorrow morning I plan on spraying it down good and pressure washing it before I remove the motor and transmission. Then doing it again afterwards. Then painting it aall before the new 350/700R4 goes in.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
