Quadrajet identification....
I found this website that helped me identify my Qjet. The only problem is according to the numbers and legend this carb is for a manual transmission...which would be fine except I have an automatic. I was told by the original owner the carb is original. The trans is definitely original as it's on the options list in the glove box. Should I be concerned?
Here's the website if anyone should need to id their Qjet. http://www.carbs.net/quadnumber.htm

last digit of the carb number wil be even or odd, even= auto odd= manual if the carb is a 69 carb then it wil be a 7029 carb if is correct, but you can never know if it is original ------------------ Randy- Lincoln, IL randy@ccaonline.com -71/C-10(thx teeitup and crews!)350 4+4/CH465(thx 71Chev, GMCPaul, and CPNE)longfleet bed(thnx meathead95)!still building it- -'84 Z28 H.O. 305 L69 700R4 GT4 3.73 - 1984 Firebird SE 2.8L T-5 GT4 3.73 -1981 Cutlass Supreme, dunno what im gonna do with it yet... -79 G20 pass van, 350/th350/10bolt *Paint is overrated © RSS Enterprises 2000 [This message has been edited by Fast68Chevy (edited March 29, 2002).] |

thanks to the website I know how to break down my number to determine what I have...that's the problem...the carb ID says it's for a manual trans and I have a TT400 trans.
7029207 last digit is odd so spec'd for manual transmission.

I believe the only difference as to automatic or manual, at least as far as carbs for our trucks, is the vacuum port on the back on the base. Manuals have it blocked off, auto's don't. Not sure, though, that's just what I've heard.
