3/4 ton Shear Type Cab Mounts
I recently got my cab mounts rebuilt by Steele Rubber Products in North Carolina. The quality of the rebuild is amazing. I thought I would post this thread for anyone who wants to keep their original shear type cab mounts. I would recommend getting a second set of cab mounts to have sent out to be rebuilt so you can still use your truck.

Re: 3/4 ton Shear Type Cab Mounts
About how long did the whole process take? Was the cab height correct when installed? Looks good!

Re: 3/4 ton Shear Type Cab Mounts
It was about 2 weeks. They said that it could be sooner or longer depending on how much work they have, but it's never over 3 weeks. I have not gotten around to installing them yet, but I'll be sure to update this thread with some pictures.

Re: 3/4 ton Shear Type Cab Mounts
Did they come back to you re-painted black like that?
Any tips for removing the original cab mount rivets? I'm told they are a bear to drill out. Would love to hear how others have gotten them out cleanly without damaging the paint on the frame.

Yes, they came back exactly how they look in the pictures. I have used a nice sharp chisel on an air hammer in the past to remove rivets on some other frames, take the head right off and then you just need to punch it out with a punch bit. You just need to be careful how you aim the air hammer.

Re: 3/4 ton Shear Type Cab Mounts
I grinded my heads off and then just punched them out.

Re: 3/4 ton Shear Type Cab Mounts
What did you use for bolts when you re-installed? Did the rear cab height come out correct? I mean, did the body lines between the cab and box line up? Thanks.

Re: 3/4 ton Shear Type Cab Mounts
Just wondering if you ever got your new cab mounts installed and how it came out.

Re: 3/4 ton Shear Type Cab Mounts
I am dropping my frame off today to get powder coated. I will update this asap with installing the rebuilt mounts. Feel free to check out my build thread below, I'll post on there too about the mounts.

Re: 3/4 ton Shear Type Cab Mounts
I'm wondering what size bolts others have used to bolt the cab mounts back to the frame. The original holes (which, obviously, contained rivets) are larger than 3/8" but smaller than 7/16" in diameter. Apparently not a standard size hole. What have others used for bolts?
