1972 GMC Identfication numbers - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

IS there a way to tell the correct naming for a 1972 GMC. K15 K1500 whatever Ive been asked a number of times and not sure, been told several times and always different what im told.

Half ton short box. Can you identify from serial numbers? Last time i asked a jobber about part availablity he wanted the exact model number and happened at one other place in the past as well. Just did mufflers want to research leaf spring details next
