sound deadening mat question?
Hey guys I am putting new carpet in my 67 C10 and I have removed the old carpet and the Black mat that came with the truck is in great shape. My question di I remove the old mat that's stuck to the floor or do I put the new sound deadening mat over the top of the old mat? thanks Rick

Re: sound deadening mat question?
I am thinking the OEM black mat under was tar base maybe....Mine was in chunks that broke up....hard to get anything to stick to that, if that's what it is.....you need about 50 Sq ft of whatever your going to use.

Re: sound deadening mat question?
Also depends on how nice and quite you want it, I did about 3 layers before carpet....Rattle trap....and 2 layers of close cell foam...from Lobucrod.com

Re: sound deadening mat question?
This is an excellent site that goes into a somewhat different way to deaden the sound in your truck than using "mat" alone. The "mat" reduces vibration, but does not really deaden sound. There are other products that do when used in combination with "mat". Sadly this guy retired and is no longer selling product but has left the site up:
