Hood Hinges

This may be a stupid question but what exactly keeps the hood of a C10 up or maybe I should be asking why wont mine stay up?

Im assuming its the springs but when I look at how they operate I cant help but think they are more inclined to close the hood than open it. Im sure Im missing something simple.

I possibly should add, my hood will not stay open! And its a bit too heavy to come crashing down on my head!

Re: Hood Hinges

When you close the hood it stretches the springs. This is what prevents the hood from closing on it's own. If yours won't stay up, it's possible your springs are weak and/or your hinges are worn out at the pivot points where the rivets are.
