Paint color code for 82 K10

Hi, I have a 1982 Chevrolet Silverado K10 I need to find the OEM Paint color/Code for... It's supposed to be 1981-1982 "Midnight Black" and Have been looking for months now on Forums, Paint-Ref, Autocolorlibrary, & many PPG/Dupont Spec Sheet Pictures But cannot find that EXACT color & Code...

Unless this WHOLE time, PPG/Dupont just name it “Black” WA x x x (code) on their bulletin sheets.

Can anyone help me!?

Re: Paint color code for 82 K10

Absolutely.

You can't go by the noun name.

It might be "Midnight Black" for Chevy, "Tuxedo Black" for GMC, "Black Diamond" for Cadillac, and "Camaro Black" for the presidential limo. That's all marketing nonsense.

You must go by the WA number; the WA number defines the recipe.

If you still have your SPID label it would show the RPO code, which is "19" (probably shown as "19U", where U = upper, or primary, color).

I completely understand now But sadly no SPID Sheet. It was either Ripped off or I assume the Gule wore out & Fell off.

I am going to send in a Request to GM Media Archive along with my Vin to get all the information & have Jabin Wood Recreate a SPID Sheet for me, Or do you know anyone else??? I'd prefer not to have a "Fake" Sheet"

I have a 1982,K-10 that I bought new.
It is black with the silver in the center of the body.
I can look at the spid later and see what the paint code is for you if it will help.

Option # 119L
Description 19 Midnight black 17

Mike.

It appears that the whole truck was painted black and the silver added on the top of the black.
Maybe what the "17" at the end means?
Mike.

I think at the end of this week I'm going to order the spec sheet from the GM heritage center for 50 bucks. Then I'll get Jabin wood to recreate me in SPID sheet.

Solid color is RPO ZY1.

"17" is the RPO code for the silver (just like "19" was the code for the black).

The RPO codes "stack", like a sentence, creating the content you want.

So yours would be RPO ZY5 (the two tone, with the inset), and then 19U (for black primary color) and 17L (silver secondary).

Incidentally, in the assembly plant, the secondary color was sprayed first, taped off in the desired pattern, and then the primary color sprayed over the top of that.

The silver is faded to the black underneath.
So,I assumed it was all black, then silver added.
But,if the primer is black, then that means you are correct!
And,makes more sense too!
Thanks Keith.
Mike.

This is who did mine. http://outintheshop.com/2.html
I got ordered my packet from GM. The 2nd pic is my original SPID. The last pic is the new SPID that I had done. And we also made changes to reflect the changes I made, like the interior color change.

Nice! How much was it to recreate your SPID?

Can’t remember the exact price, but around $100. I went back and looked at his website for the pricing.

The cost of a label with 8 options of your choice, the clear cover and instructions that will make installation easy is $40. Additional options are $3 each and if you want a second label it's just $10. If you want to add something to a label that was not an original factory option (power windows, vacuum gauge, etc) its $6 per option. A complete list of RPO (Regular Production Options) can be found at the link on the left side of this page.
