Misc junkyard truck pics.

Was on a hunting trip recently and duck hunting was slow so I did a little truck hunting instead. Enjoy.

More... he is looking for the title of the 71 and I may have to run back and grab that one. It is rougher than it looks.

I know these parts are worth getting, but any idea on values?
GMC radio, door panels, tach dash and grill?

Tow hooks are long gone unfortunately...

Re: Misc junkyard truck pics.

I was wondering what paint job it has under that white. Looks to be a fleet order that got it's paint scheme done at the factory, like phone company or other big business. The tires were optional 16" but I'd bet the tires were a brand not offered buy GM. So you have front, rear, and spare listed. Both the tires and the paint have different coding, such as on a COPO order.

Those big window Task Masters caught my eye

Way too many got crushed out in recent years. BUT, and a BIG but at that, the price of scrap has been terrible for a year or more, with no prospect of the prices going up, in sight. Maybe the yards left can hang on...

THanks for the pics!!!

Re: Misc junkyard truck pics.

Im not up on telling the differences between mid year 55's and 59's anymore, but I bet someone would love to have that big window for a conversion.

Its been forever ago but I had a 56(55?) small window for awhile. Later I had a 58 large window … oh man what a difference in drivability and coolness.

LOL, I feel same way about 67's. Many would load their brithches to get a small window 67. I HAVE a small window 67. It might get converted to a large window, I don't care...

Re: Misc junkyard truck pics.

The old junkyards are disappearing by way of zoning enforcement or changes, property value, surrounding development, owners getting out or dying/no one to carry on, environmental issues, as much or more than due to price of scrap. Plus in some areas the vehicles have sat so long the elements have about destroyed the vehicles from any practical use. Around here you have a forest where it was a field in the time these vehicles have sat 40-50 years. I've looked at hundreds of old vehicles all rotted away from being in the woods, if not having trees growing into them.

Tach dash you could get $100+ for, the dash bezel (73-74 only woodgrain A/C) worth grabbing they'll go for $50 and up
The grill- if its all there you could grab it and the radiator support brackets, neither are reproduced- as a package it would bring some decent cash.

I could use some parts off the '57 big back window and the orange fleet option GMC is a rare bird as well.

Looks like some tractors out back- worth checking out those as well.

Re: Misc junkyard truck pics.

There is a place near me called Old Car City in White ,Ga that was once a huge junkyard . Cars and trucks stacked up in what is now a Pine thicket with trails throughout for folks to go take pics . Nothing is for sale anymore but all the sheetmetal is ruined anyway . It's just a tourist attraction now . It's still pretty cool.

Thanks for the pricing. I don't do alot with the squarebody stuff, but a little. I know certain year woodgrain door panels bring good money, but these must not be them?

Re: Misc junkyard truck pics.

My love for the 55-57s is stronger than ever. I’ve had mine for 15 years almost. Those big back window cabs are hens teeth any more. Now that they are all 60+ years old they are all really hard to find.
Thanks for sharing Eric those yards remind me of the ones Pete used to post when he was in montana. I remember he texted me a bunch of pictures of the yards up there and they were packed full of old stuff.

That's them. I can't say what they're worth, but I'd say a good bit more than quoted. A lot of 73-74 stuff is worth good money.

Re: Misc junkyard truck pics.

Yes- those door panels bring good money too. '73-74 specific stuff is really popular right now, glad it wasn't when I was redoing mine 20 years ago.
