One rocker removed...
So, I was doing some reading here on the forums and saw someone recommend that if you’re replacing rockers, it’s better to first pull the cab and put in new body bushings if yours are worn out. Well mine are worn out. Problem is, I didn’t read the article until after I had cut out the rocker on the passenger side.
So do I a) install the new rocker and then pull the body, or b) pull the body now without the rocker? Thanks. |

Re: One rocker removed...
You don’t have to pull the body to do the bushings, a floor jack works perfectly fine. Once you get it leveled up pull the cab corner back to where it needs to be and fit and weld the rockers with the doors and fenders in place. If all you did was remove the outer rocker the cab corner probably didn’t move much if the inner isn’t rusted out bad.

Re: One rocker removed...
Oh sorry, I’m pulling the cab anyway to get to the frame, so that is happening anyhow. No more work really

Re: One rocker removed...
Gotcha that makes sense. When I did mine I mounted the cab to a stand on the floor and did the corners, inner rockers and outer floor panels, floor supports and b pillar patches with the cab bolted down level. Whatever you do don’t weld the outer rockers on till the cab is on the frame and the doors at a minimum are bolted where they need to sit in the door openings, fenders are extra insurance but not 100% necessary.

Re: One rocker removed...
I think mainly, i'm worried about any possible body flex during the pull. I have a lift, and I just plan on lifting it straight off the frame, and then rolling the frame out and putting the body back on the ground.

Re: One rocker removed...
The cab is very rigid with minimal flex. I had mine on a metal table and it was not a problem rolling it over on it's back to sand the bottom.
