Bed Assembly Question
I Put My Rear Bed Together On My 69 Swb Fleetside Wood Floor and Got It Painted.. front Header Panel, Box Sides, And The Rear Main Crossmember..
Just Wondering How I Should Go About Mounting The Bed To The Frame? Do I Put The Cross Sills On The Frame First Or Attach Them To The Bed.. Thanks Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Bed Assembly Question
The way we did mine is to attach the cross sills to the box, (detached) and install all of the flooring and inside fenders. When finished, we used ratcheting straps at each corner to lift, then I drove the truck under to complete attaching. That was easier for us. It was a long bed. If we had a couple of more guys we would have probably just lifted and carried over to set it on the frame.

Assemble the entire bed including the floor making sure it's square. Then lift it on. I had 4 guys from the body shop come to my house and lift it on while I laid on the floor to guide it into place. |

Re: Bed Assembly Question
I used a little different approach when doing mine. I welded 1 1/2" bolts and washers into the cross sill supports heading down towards the floor so that they would go thru the holes in the frame. Lowered the box on, then installed washers and a self locking nut on them. I wanted to have a cleaner look without the bolts in the floor.
