Thoes things look like they would be more of a hastle than there worth it would be faster just to climb up and plant your a$$ on the core support and have unobstructed access to every thing within reach.

Those would have been nice this past weekend while replacing all those distributor parts. However, a step stool works fine too and it's paid for.

I use a step stool, but it has a tendency to go sliding out from under me at the worst possible time. That hood latch HURTS!

i have slipped and fallen before when standing on the bumper. Kinda hurts maybe your pride more then anything. I use a stepstool or a ladder. I would rather fall on my behind then pay that much . Or maybe iam just cheap look below.

hahaha!! Thats awesome! Poor basketball hoop!

I personally climb up the bumper and sit on the inner fenders, a bit of a tight squeeze but it works!

I've only ever fallen off once, and it gave me a nasty stretch in my hamstring that I never wanna feel again :P That felt like someone sacking you with a jackhammer...

a friend of mine has a step that bolts to the front bumper where the license plate sits and he stands on that to get into the motor of his lifted blazer works pretty well either as a step into the motor or as a place to work from. you flip it up and theres the license plate think he bought it in whitneys

I actually use a tire step from Matco. Very useful and only $40.

while on the subject, put a spray paint can lit over the hood striker while working under the hood. Just a little tip that has saved me from hari-kari more that a few times.

If I have to use something to step up on I use a real big tire. Like a 30x10.50 + size tire still on the rim. Works really well and doesn't slide out on you. Really just about any tire that is wide will do. Im 6`3 + my springs are really sagging in the front so I don't need the tire that much. But for me its a lot easier and not as much strain to get to things in the back of the engine. I find myself mostly in front of the truck leaning over, for some reason its a little harder from the sides.

that's a big tire? i guess GM did good when they put the HUGE 285 75 16s on my 91 then.

Im talking about using what you have. Unless you would like these nice people to go out and buy those "HUGE" 16 rims and 285 75s tires just to stand on. :p

Its just a little bettter to have a wider tire so that it will lift you up higher when you stand on it. I use a spare 33x12.50 but for some reason put down 31x10.50 in my eariler post.
