Where to Drill..? Emergency Brake
Hi All, Hoping someone out there might have a pic showing the empty firewall where the emergency brake assembly would normally go...?
Apparently the body guy took it upon himself to fill in most of the holes and now I cannot tell where the assembly goes exactly other than guesstimating. Here are the pics.. I can see an outline of a small square where I think it might go but not confirmed since it's all metal now. Obviously I don't want to ruin the paint job either by drilling multiple holes... Also, on a side note.. Since I have no emergency brake setup at all, no hangers, clips, connectors, etc.. What is the best way to go about replacing it all.. I recently installed a rear disc brake conversion from Auto City Classic, (https://www.autocityclassic.com/chev...-rearc106ltrk/) and it went in fine but then I started thinking how am I going to connect the original system to it once I get it. I see that Inline Tube makes a complete kit but has anyone used it and will it work in my situation...(1969-72 Chevrolet GMC Truck Parking Brake Cable Set Kit OEM 1/2 ton 4wd BST6944) Just curious to see what folks are using before I buy something.

round holes are for the brake bracket to bolt to. I am pretty sure cable goes thru the square hole but I can check mine in the morning if needed. I can also pull measurements if you need them. I may have some of the factory brake stuff as well.

Thank You Richard... That helps alot, I did not even realize I was missing such a large square hole although I was expecting it to be round. My guess was way off but at least I have something to go by.
I was reviewing the install instructions on their site for the inline tube setup and they mentioned I would have to reuse the "Tension Rod and the Hook"..? Would you happen to have those 2 parts..? I still need to figure out where they go and attach points but the drawing they have is useful but not super clear.

Now in looking at the pic, the rectangle hole is for the Ebrake cable to go through and I can cut that out. The other two holes on the other side were filled in and I assume that is where the wire bundles were inserted through.
The larger square hole I am not sure but is probably where the oem fuse block was attached I am guessing so I don't need to worry about uncovering that again just yet until I figure out how my AA wiring kit is going to attach to the firewall. As for the ECM and engine harness, we have already drilled a hole on the right side firewall for that to go through and mount the ecm on the passenger side near where the A/C system will go but not in the way.

Hi Rip, good to hear from you again... Here is the link for their drawing showing the tension rod and other items, it looks like they have all of it except those 2 items..?

Hello, the picture they show appears to be 2wd is yours 2 or 4x4

4x4 does have a tension rod so you may have to get that from a 2wd

This is a complete set I removed from a 72 4x4 blazer. As Duane stated there was no additional tensioner rod other than the threaded bolt cable coming from the pedal. I thought I had some loose pcs laying about but can't seem to put my hands on them so if Duane has what you need, have at it. Here is a further back shot of the firewall cutout I have as well in case you are missing other holes.

Ok, Looking at their drawing.. Where they have Tension Rod written I was assuming they are talking about the line right above it where it's attached to the front part of the frame then coming back to put tension on the entire cable.. Perhaps that is what you have pictured as the bar with curled ends but since I have no pics of one actually installed I have no clue. If the curled bar is what they called the Tensioner then I need that part... As for the Small Hook, I need that as well, just need to see one to figure out how it attaches. Thanks for everyone's input. I went ahead and ordered the Inline kit last night so I definitely need those two parts.

I just crawled under the blazer in the above picture and took some installed shots laying on my back looking up. The rods you need could also be bent out of new rod if needed. I have measurements for that as well.
1st pic is the cable coming from the pedal to the triangular bracket riveted to the frame on drivers side 2nd pic is of passenger side where the long 5/16" diameter rod hooks to frame and cable as well as one of the smaller 3/16" diameter rods further to the rear towards the axle. There is a 2nd small rod on the driver side cable as well. 3rd pic shows the tensioner with the spring to the body. The tensioner is actually part of the cable that comes from the pedal on the Blazers 4th pic I took the wire tie off the extra set I have and laid them out so you could see them better. 5th pic is a further away shot of the spare set

Thanks a ton Richard... My friend was able to make similar copies of both parts and 2 of the tension rods with one coming in at 13 3/4 and the other at 14 1/4 so I will have to see which one works the best.. I will try to install everything in a week or so...
