1987 crew cab hit and run. Please help me figure out pieces left behind
My 1987 crew cab got hit last night. The vehicle involved left behind some clues I’m hoping can help me figure out vehicle type.
1) The headlight material was glass 2) The pieces of grill or headlight surround was chrome plated gray plastic 3) More than likely a truck due to height of impact. It also moved my truck a foot sideways. 4) blue, left transfer paint on my truck Hoping someone recognizes the profile on pieces of trim left behind. Does anyone know what year they stopped using glass headlights or started using chrome plated plastic?

Man that is going to be tough...where you were hit were there any businesses or residences around the area that may have had some surveillance footage? If so, in your shoes I would canvass those places in person and appeal to them with your story of the hit and run in hopes they caught something. Sorry you're having to deal with this. Once I observed a minor hit and run as I was leaving an establishment...I wrote a note with the description of the vehicle and the license plate number...left it on the car that was hit and then left the scene...hopefully you will figure this out. -klb

Bummer! FWIW, the party who hit you will not be that far away from where you were hit, statistically. One of my cars got hit at the curb, and one morning while jogging, I spotted a vehicle with paint that matched that left on my car, with damage in the area where my car was hit. Ended up getting the repair money out of the guy- he didn't want it to be an insurance claim- which might have meant that he didn't have insurance, but I didn't care, since there were no personal injuries. I got nothin' on when it went from glass to plastic lenses on headlights. I'm sure someone does, though.

I hate stuff like this....my CC was backed into during a neighbors' garage sale, and they took off also.
