55.2-59 Hole in dash from choke cable

Installed FI so removed the choke cable, need good looking ideas to plug the 3/8" hole. A chrome push in plug won't cover the damaged paint, I also thought of painting a plastic push in plug with a bigger head( I have some tan paint left over) Open to ideas

i'd throw a switch that matches the other ones in the dash in that hole. even if it doesn't work anything, it would look better that a plug. Just my opinion.

Why not just cut the choke cable off just past the metal sleeve and put the bezel and knob in and be done with it?

If you didn't have it painted you could drill it out to the right size for a pushbutton starter button connected to a really loud horn. That would serve two or more purposes.

mr48's suggestion is what I would do. if your gonna do that I suggest to cut it off and then crimp the end when assembled so some joker doesn't pull the whole thing apart for you.
the other suggestion for a switch is also a good idea if you find a switch that matches the rest. some guys used to wire in the interior light that way, or some extra back up lights. some guys also used to use an extra "look alike" switch as an engine immobilizer so the truck couldn't be easily stolen if the thief didn't know about the switch.

I found a push pull switch that fit the hole and wired my electric fan to it. My fan runs on a thermostat turning it off and on but i wanted to be able to make it run all the time just in case. Its all wired through a relay. I got a matching knob and with a little work made it fit and look original.

you could also use the cable assembly hooked to a remote switch. then wire the ignition circuit thru the switch. you would have to pull the choke knob out to complete the circuit before the truck would run. should be a great theft deturant

I would make use of it. On my 53 I'm using the choke but am putting the electric P/S gain adjuster in the throttle hole with a stock throttle knob on it.

I agree with the suggestions to put something with a matching knob and bezel there. You cold always drill and thread a knob and bolt it on from the back side if it's not used for anything. I myself plan on using that hole for a fog light switch.

If you can find an original radio delete knob delete plug would look ok. Easy to find a black one a little harder to find a chrome one.

I ordered replacement knobs of the same size as originals and put them into the holes that I do not have working switches to. I screwed them onto a threaded bolt and used a larger sized washer underneath than the hole itself

I used this for my start button. Looks great and like having a push button start.

Can't find the choke cable so ordered a new one to make a dummy knob, it will look identical to the others. Should be here tomorrow. Good idea on the starter button tho.

I used new choke and throttle cables to operate my kick panel vents and trashed the old under dash cables.
