Straight 6 to V8, wire harness ?

Well I'm taken out the original 1967 six and putting in a 1967 327 four barrel, keeping the manual choke. My question is do I need a V8 harness. No AC , plan jane.
I'm pretty sure I got all the other parts but hey chime in maybe I don't.
Thanks
Nick.

Re: Straight 6 to V8, wire harness ?

Engine harness wiring harness as far as diagram, pinout is the same 6 cyl, v8, Gauges or no gauges.

Yellow, coil, stsrter relay terminal
Green, temp sender, guages or not
Brown white stripe, if used, tcs
Tan, brake warning switch
Purple, starter

I dont think i missed anything, if i did, you can see its all the same just different lengths and sometimes terminal type.
For example, i think temp warning lamp for no guages has a different terminal and location than guages but still uses the green wire in the same spot on the fuse panel connector.

Thanks randy500, I failed to ask but you happen to mention , there's a difference in length, so that means I'll need a V8 harness and or splice and lenghten my original L6 wires. I hope I'm making sense , lol
Thanks again
Nick

Thumbs up Re: Straight 6 to V8, wire harness ?

The only thing I know is you may have to make some of the leads longer as Randy said. I'm fixing to do the same thing but with HEI built into the old 6 wiring and internal regulator also.
I have pulled it all out of the truck and have it cleaned up ready to start back but I have some mods I plan on it, here my link with what I'm doing.
Going from 3 speed to auto so adding NSS also going to be putting AC in it some time. Radio, amps.
I'm think about a early 80's V-8 truck to get the harness out of it. Are the link at the end of my thread with the $99.99 kit.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

You probably wont need to make any of them longer.

The starter is in the same side, the coil is further away from the firewall

I dont remember the location of the temp sensor on a 6cyl, if its in front then the wire should be long enough.

You will probably have to untape the harness, route the wires then retape it.

Temp senor is in the front drivers side of the 6 cylinder on mine. You can see it behind the fuel filter. Second picture it's in the shadow.
