Q: will 4x4 rear springs work on my 4x2 blazer?

can anyone help?
i am in need of a new pair of rear leaf springs on my factory..1978 - 2 wheel drive blazer and i have found out that the rear leaf springs for 4x4 are same dimensions for eyelets and mounting as the 4x2 springs. the only difference i see is the 4x4 leaf springs are (5) leafs and 6 3/4 Arch, and the 4X2 leaf springs are (4) leafs and 5 3/4 arch... 1 inch shorter and twice the price as the 4x4 springs.

now with that said i am looking for a little taller in the rear. that 60;s rake thing. so if i buy the 4x4 leaf springs will they work in the 2wheel blazer ???
thanx dave

I replaced my rear springs with new from Husky Springs, wish I still had the part number because mine does have a subtle but nice rake. Check out their website, if nothing else for reference, all I remember for sure is they list dozens of springs for every style square with length and arch numbers listed. I ended up getting pickup springs that had the numbers I wanted.

Re: Q: will 4x4 rear springs work on my 4x2 blazer?

springs are the same . its the height of the hangers on the vehicle frame for our square body trucks .

now there is different packs for leaf count and weight capacity so watch out for this .

also there is 52" eye to eye and 56" eye to eye . the 56" is more heavy 3/4 and all 1tons but some 1/2 tons got them .

most replacement springs are cheaper for the heavy option as most are upgrading . lots of times all you need to do a clamp the springs both sides of the center pin and pull the pin let the pack un compress BE CAREFUL and pull the lowest spring / shortest / bottom leaf and re assemble and install .

Or just have yours re-arched the way you want them...

UPDATE.... i ordered a set of leaf springs from a 78 4x4 rears and installed them on a factory 4x2 blazer ... it went great. fit as factory with about a 3/4 " higher stance. i really like a small rake. it works!!
