Brake and other line replacements on a 66- what to get?
Im nearing the point where the lines can go back in and I plan to replace what came off. Ive never done this before so I dont want to screw up and order stuff that doesnt fit or even things I didnt need. Is it best to buy pre bent or bend it up for a newbie? Ive got a tool for the bending I used in the past and I think I could manage the bending..the flaring and hardware parts I have no idea about though. Here is what I have in the pile of replacement parts. I only labeled the transmission cooler lines so Ill need to make sure I have the lines properly identified. In this pic, I think these are all brake lines, but the one to the left has a double line thing going. I have a dual master cylinder but the kits Im finding online on a 66 dont have that, so where should I be looking instead since a conversion had been done before?

Even the parking brake cables I need to reorder and this is what I had removed before.

Assuming drums all around and single M/C I'd at least change it to dual chamber M/C. Get one from a 67, and from what I understand front line goes to front brakes. Buy a flaring tool and have fun. You will of course need to get some fittings to split the front and back.
If you plan on keeping your original M/C I wouldn't even bother renewing the lines, unless they have rust pitting. |

I wouldn't do stainless, do the cunifer lines, they bend super easily (and flare great). That's what I used on mine when I re-did all lines for my dual master.

First pic with the two lines attached together: The line with the rubber hose on each end is the fuel line from the tank to the fuel pump. The other line is the single line that runs back to the rear brakes

Re: Brake and other line replacements on a 66- what to get?
Thanks Christian for helping me sort this all out. Is there a standard size for fuel, brake, and trans? Is 3/16 good for all?

Re: Brake and other line replacements on a 66- what to get?
Look at inline tube for a lot of what you need. The have most of it. Depending on what brake upgrades you have done you can use parts from other years. If you are still on all drums a kit for a 67 will get you what you need. For the fuel line you need at least 5/16. I ran 3/8 on mine.
