Tried to crank window down and felt a pop..
Window lowered about 1/8” before I felt the pop and the the handle just spun freely. Window didn’t go down any further. (It was cold and the window seemed hard to lower). If I turn the handle to raise the window it spins a full rotation or so then something engages and the window goes back up that 1/8”. Try to lower and handle just spins.
I can feel some things moving inside the door when turning the crank and since it does go back up a bit I know it is not just the handle spinning on the regulator. Maybe one of the rollers broke and came out of the track? You guys think I will need to replace the whole regulator? Won’t know for sure until I get into the door, just looking for ideas from someone who knows these doors better than I do. Btw it is a 1972.

Re: Tried to crank window down and felt a pop..
If the handle spins freely and then re-engages in the opposite direction you're more than likely going to need to replace the regulator. The regulator in your 72 has a longer shaft than the 69-71 units.

Yeah, that’s what I figured. I’ll have to bring it inside the garage and pull the panel. Wish I didn’t have to remove the vent window to replace the regulator. But then again, don’t need to roll the window down till spring!😁

Re: Tried to crank window down and felt a pop..
Pro-tip: I am not a pro at all but I fought with regulators for 10 or so hours before realizing I had to enlarge the hole in the arm that the "wheel" on the regulator goes into. The wheel was bigger than OEM and it was never going to fit until I slightly enlarged the hole. I explained this like crap but you will see what I am talking about.

Thanks for the offer but it is the driver side that failed.

Re: Tried to crank window down and felt a pop..
Found the problem. Glass came out of the channel. Guess it was frozen into the weatherstrip. When I tried to crank it down I must have popped the channel off of the glass.
What is the recommended adhesive?

Re: Tried to crank window down and felt a pop..
Cant really see the glass, Did it come out of the U channel that had the rubber packing?
If you can push it back in, use some urethane glue to adhere it.

Re: Tried to crank window down and felt a pop..
Yup. Came out of the U channel. Yes the packing is still in the channel. I just finished cleaning it up. Please look at these photos. Is the channel supposed to bend at the forward edge? Seems to bend down and in? I think it is not right since I can see rub marks at the bend. Also, I don’t think it will fit on the glass like that.
Also when putting the glass back in the U channel does it center fore and aft? Or is there a specific distance from the front or back edge of the glass that the channel is supposed to be? Thanks .
