Re: Steering gear box rebuild kit
This is a great thread on the resealing of the gear. too bad photobucket blurs the pictures on my screen, I cannot make out the two part numbers for the reseal kits.

Re: Steering gear box rebuild kit
My experience on my '87 is that I got the complete rebuild kit and after installing, it still leaked at the shaft due to the shaft being worn. I ended up replacing the entire box to fix it.

Re: Steering gear box rebuild kit
amazingly it only leaks enough to be wet and collect dirt, no drip, so I did look at the shaft when i started taking it apart and it is in really good shape and the pitman doesn't leak at all but I'm building a new truck

Re: Steering gear box rebuild kit
The first kit I bought didn't fit so I returned it and searched with the casting number 7802644L and one of the first that google gave me GATES 350340
took lots of elbow grease to get this thing that clean, the rust on this thing was tough as hell |
