Lowering and pinion angle

Want to do a 4"/5" drop on my 72 LWB Cheyenne soon. Dropped spindles and lowered springs all around. My concern is the changes it will make in driveshaft angles. Truck is a 402/Th-350 combo and has a newly rebuilt/shortened two piece driveshaft. Do I need to be concerned about this and can any of you provide me with some advance input?
Thanks,
Larry

Yes you need to be concerned with pinion angle as it will cause vibration, ideally the pinion needs to have between 0 and 3 degrees downward tilt (at the u-joint yoke) at ride height for a street truck.

Yes it is a concern....I had a lowered 71 and it constantly ate rear u-joints....averaged two years between changes. You need wedges to change the angle. This page is for big trucks but has a lot of good imformation.

Thanks for the help guys. I will keep this in mind when I do the conversion. And Wes, thanks for the heads up on the spindles.

No problem here.

Larry, After I dropped mine, I checked my pinion angle. Maybe I just got lucky, but it was within tolerance. Scott

get my pm?
