Originality
This is a sweet truck for sure, and a pedigree....with outstanding documentation....My question is: - Is the grille insert from a 1970, or did 69 & 70 share the two different styles of grille inserts? - also the right door mirror, is that an item that would be listed in SPID, as with the rear bumper which might be an aftermarket....

Re: Originality
69 & 70 did have different grille inserts. I forget which is which, but all replacements are of one year now.

Re: Originality
Correct, 69 is pure small egg crate. 70 is same with evenly spaced vertical reliefs. I do not believe the 70 inner is available in the aftermarket and most places that sell inners list the 69 they sell as “69-70” (incorrectly).

Re: Originality
Wow what a peach. That looks legit to me. Probably repainted the original bumpers at some point, but man that thing is well preserved. The inside of the bed and wheel wells looks cherry. I hope whoever buys it throws original white stripe tires and hub caps on it, rather than the usual slammed LS and 20's.

Re: Originality
Amazing, that thing is 5 miles from me.
No doubt it is a very nice pickup. Worth 19k? |

Re: Originality
The paint looks off to me. It looks like someone tried to buff the paint and rubbed thru. Plus it looks like they only did one side.

Re: Originality
Only thing I would do to it is put the original white wheels and white hubcaps back on it. Very nice original unmolested C 10 shortbed, an uncommon find, but, unfortunately a common asking price.

I agree with AJC.
It's had some work done on the right side.

Re: Originality
I'm thinking,... if I were ready to pull the trigger, I'd have to see it in person...Given the mans word that its all original paint with exception of the hood, I'm a bit suspicious of the 70 Grille in a 69, in conjunction with the hood...and overall condition of paint....Also both front & rear bumpers have fresh paint..which is not a bad thing... Considering the outrageous prices that people are, asking...and not getting.... the $18,500 with 'offer' consideration is fair, not a steal, but not an offensive asking price.... The paperwork alone gives this truck tremendous value..... Too many vehicles, no storage, & time is getting short.....

Re: Originality
I don't know, if the truck is as solid as it appears in the photos it would command a decent price as it would put a new owner way ahead no matter what their plan would be. Not sure I'm on board with $18,500 but I don't see a ton of body repair needed like on many (and my) trucks.

Re: Originality
That's a great price if that '66 shown is included! It looks like the real deal that is not being represented 100% accurately (hopefully not dishonestly). I'd save my scutiny on the specifics after my inspection. Anybody who buys a 50 year old truck for that kind of money without inspectuing it is stupid. My guess from here is that it has had some paint work over the years to make repairs. It has been kept sheltered, surviving original dash pad w/o tinted windows, steering wheel would also be way cracked up. Then there is the seat condition.
As for the passenger side mirror. 69/70 had the same mirror as 67/68 but in '69 dual mirrors became standard Did you look at the listing?

"K" - Reling on your expertise here...were mirrors listed on the SPID? Trying to recall if I ever seen them, but my aged fading memory tells me no....

Re: Originality
Only optional mirrors would be listed. Those old style mirrors were base equipment. In 67/68 the passenger side was an option that would be listed. The 71/72 small chrome mirrors people call sport mirrors are actually the standard no option mirrors that took the place of stick mirrors (my name for them). Maybe GM called them the new style sport mirrors in the brochures, but they had no name, just mirrors since they were not named as an option. I always called those car mirrors, for obvious reasons. Never heard them called Sport till I came here.

Re: Originality
For that kind of money it should have AC and a V8.

Re: Originality
I agree. BUT... original paint, unmolested, low mile, fleetside, shortbed trucks are fetching good money. A/C vs radio delete doesn't seem to make much difference in this arena.

Re: Originality
It has oil bath air cleaner on the SPID, but would it be the off-set power brake kind?
Or is that the only way the oil bath type came? |
