Bed Wheel Wells - body color or black?

I'm painting my pickup box soon. I'm trying to decide if the bed wheel wells would look better as the body color or black. I'm pretty sure that these trucks came from the factory with the wheel wells painted as the body color. I'm leaning toward the body color, the front inner fenders are black which I feel makes it inconsistent.

Anyone have thoughts on this? Body color or black?

Edit - to clarify - I'm talking about the outside/bottom of the wheel wells (where the wheels are), the side inside the box will be painted body color.

I would say it depends on what you are doing with the truck. If it is a weekend driver with no Iowa winters, I would paint it body color. If its more of a driver I would go black.

This is correct.

In that case my vote is "black" as well.

I always paint the wheel wells (on the outside) in black. It's not something you want to draw attention to.

I see brand new trucks with them body colored and it always make me focus on it.

I agree! The front inner fenders are black so I think it looks much nicer for the rear to match.

Re: Bed Wheel Wells - body color or black?

Thanks for the input guys - I am going with black. That was my gut thought but I was worried it wouldn't look appropriate.

This will be a driver in the summer and parked during the salty winter.

I’m spraying black undercoating on the bottom of my bed and plan to do the wheel wells along with it.

(My truck is black so guess my answer is irrelevant)

Re: Bed Wheel Wells - body color or black?

Just an update - I painted the bottom and the wheel wells of the bed black this week. Installing bedsides now, and then its on to body working the sides. Feels good to be moving forward.
