Newbie need Help C20 vs. C30
Hello all!
New here and new to the older Trucks. Got a C10 Square and two newer 2500HDs.. Now I want something older and I found a nice truck on CL. It´s listed as 62 Chevy 1Ton Truck. I did a quick Google search and I got no real answer if this would be considered a C20 or C30 in this year. All bigger trucks on here seem to be C20. Looked for available Suspension components e.g. lowering kits and all are for C10 or C20, some have C20 1Ton in the description. So is this 62 1Ton Truck a C20 or C30? And even more important would the C20 lowering parts, Airbags etc fit? Greetings from Germany |

If you can post pictures of the truck you are looking at and that will help determine what it is. Sometimes the descriptions owners give is not 100% correct. Then based on the truck tell us more about what you would like to have when your finished and we can help more on a path to get there.

I´ll post Pictures later because my work Laptop isn´t allowing Pic Hosting...
It´s a 62 Truck with a Boom and Utility bed so I think 1ton should be correct. I want to drop it or bag it maybe but first I Need to know if the C20 aftermarket parts would fit the C30 or 1Ton model also |

For the 60-62 torison bar Setup there are nearly no aftermarket parts.. found two companies offering Airbag kits which delete the Torsion bars. Both Companies only list C10 and C20 tough |

C20 is the same as c30. The drum on the c30 has an adapter/spacer to fit dually wheels

The C10 and C20 will have the trailing arm/ coil spring rear suspension. The C30 will typically have leaf springs.

Re: Newbie need Help C20 vs. C30
I´m pretty sure the Truck is a dually. Seller refused to send more Pictures to me but that doesn´t matter for what Price he asked.
I know it´s easy to swap 73-87 Front crossmember and rear axles in a C20 with trailing arms/coil springs. Is it possible to swap the dually axle for a 73-87 5 Lug 1/2 Ton axle and if I do so would I have a width Problem regarding the missing dually wheels? Reason I ask is, I got offered a set of 78 C10 Axles with Disc Brake front/rear and full steering linkage etc. I´d like to buy that if it would fit a dually |

Re: Newbie need Help C20 vs. C30
Nice catch captain, I was not thinking about the rear.
73-87 c10 front will bolt up to 60-72 C-30. 73-87 c10 rear end has nearly the same width center to center at the spring perches. Your issue might be shock mounts. Do you have a welder, can you weld. If you do, you’ll make it work. No issues with width other than it’ll look funny at the back, depending on the bed that you are using. |

I‘m a bit curious why its a dually because all utility bed I‘ve seen were single wheels trucks. Might be related to the water well drilling boom, honestly I don‘t know how heavy that thing is on top.. Posted via Mobile Device |
