Hood spring problem
Hey guys. I had to replace the hood on my 66 K10 pick up truck. I bought one from LMC. I put it on today and it acts as if the springs are too strong for this hood. I have seen this happen on other trucks where the hood actually bends where are the hinges bolts onto it. My question; do I need to buy different springs?

Re: Hood spring problem
You could call LMC and ask them if their hood springs
they sell would be a good match (lower tension pressure than original) for the hood you purchased (From Them). Link: https://www.lmctruck.com/1960-66-che...ood-components You could search for Low tension hood springs. They make them for some vehicles. Maybe springs for a fiberglass hood? .

Re: Hood spring problem
Thanks for the reply. I plan to call them. But after a google search they recommend lubing the hinges.

Re: Hood spring problem
Pull the hinges and springs back off and make sure the hinges work freely and work lube into them while they are off. Makes it a a lot easier to get the lube fully into the pins. I work lithium grease or gear lube. Doing it this way has worked well.

Re: Hood spring problem
Start by oiling all the pivot points on the hinges. As you close the hood push back on it to give the hinges a head start
