Fuel Lines on Drivers Side
Hi Everyone,
I have a 75 C10 short/step with a stock gas tank on the drivers side, Holley Blue Fuel Pump in front of the tank (on the drivers side) and then it uses the stock fuel lines over the the passenger side of the car and up to the carb. The current pump dead-heads into the carb so I'm going to add a return fuel line. It seems that it would be a lot easier to run both the send and return line up the drivers side of the frame rail rather than have it cross over the underside of the cab. It seems the only issue for this plan is that my Holley 750 is set up to get on the passenger side of the motor but it should be manageable to send gas up the drivers side of the motor. Any thoughts, questions, or concerns? Thanks for all input. -Chris

You could run it all down that side but generally there’s already a bunch of stuff in the way.
Brake lines, trans linkage, brake prop valve, steering bolts. Down pass side not much to work around. You can bundle feed and return togethor too. Across the front could be a safety hazard too. Not a lot of structurally strong framework to protect the lines. Are you using a return style regulator? |

I think it was designed to have exhaust on the left side and all lines on the right. That way the heat does not affect the fluids. (i.e. vapor lock)

Thanks for the insight. After looking a little closer last night, I think you're both right. I'll run lines across the cab to the passenger side of the truck.
I don't currently have a return regulator but I will most likely get one as I'll need one if I move forward with the return line. On a side note, do you know what (if any) in tank fuel pumps will fit into the stock style C10 gas tank? Will a 80's TBI pump work? I have a ~400HP 5.3 but it's carbed so I need a lower PSI fuel pump. Thanks again for all of the input. -Chris

I do’t think you’ll have much success with an in tank pump. I think they all are too high of pressure. Fuel regulators don’t work well reducing the at least 30 psi down to a needed 5 psi for a carb even with a return line.
What carb are using? |

Hi, it's a Holley 750.
I might need to stick with the Holley blue pump I currently have set up but I was thinking maybe intake is the way to go. I'll have to do some more research but I thought I red that TBI pumps were only ~15 PSI. -Chris

Just searched and 15 psi is right.
Still I’ve read it’s tough to regulate it down. Your 750 should handle 7 psi but I’ve always gone for 5 psi on my carb setups. |

If you put the Pressure regulator father for the carb you get more restrictive flow witch makes it easier adjust the pressure down. Most people want less restrictive flow put close to the carb, with all system being different some can get the pressure lower that work for the set up closer to the carb. It will be trial error hit the best place for your. some time going to 3/8 fuel line after the pressure regulator to the carb helps a little.
