Sure, but are those 50yr old laminated windows as strong as the Musk truck windows?

Re: The Future or the past
There is one advantage to that ugly Tesla poor excuse of a truck.
No one will ever ask you to help them move. It's got my vote there.

Re: The Future or the past
I choose the past because I'm too old to get excited or invest in the future. My buddy and I were just amusing ourselves a while back on how we both have newer diesel trucks for pulling our 5th wheels, yet we both automatically hop in our old flatbeds on a daily basis....drives our wives crazy!
Don't get me wrong all this new stuff is comfortable, drives nice, has all the bells and whistles and you can't beat diesel power for pulling, but him and I are both real comfortable bombing around on a daily basis in our old flatbeds. |

Re: The Future or the past
I like the old stuff better than today's too. Difference is new are more convenient, and it doesn't bother me so much to see them deteriorate.

If I had that flatbed I'd drive it too. I have a rusty C20 with no bells and whistles, and it doesn't bother me. Only the horn and signals are fully operational, literally. It runs and stops every time, suspension isn't too bad. I prefer driving that over my Tundra.

Re: The Future or the past
Ironic and so true. One way or another old stuff was built very well. And they're more personal. My cool-cat uncle left me a small traveling chest for example. It's intended for hygiene and stash, has a built-in mirror, dude was a stage actor. I use it for camping & road trips. It's 120-130 years old and mint.

I own more antiques than modern consumer products. Heck, I have antiques I bought new!

Re: The Future or the past
I guess I just see the new Tesla as not really a truck. It's an EV with a bit of a bed on it but I don't think it will do half what a "real" truck will do. Folks with deep pockets that have to have the latest gadget are already on board but they are the same folks that buy all the other new gadgets to make their friends and neighbors envious.
I actually prefer the guy who is envious when he sees the nose of my 67 when I have my shop doors open. I'm happy to see EV's making progress and as battery technology evolves they will continue to get better. However, I still live in the real world where everyone doesn't drive in the city, or just 20 miles per day, and some of us pull trailers and haul "stuff" that others simply wouldn't understand.

Patina ain't nothin' but paint all scrambled up with an extra 'a' added on!
I'm a mature adult... in years but not the way I act. But I really do hang onto things a long time. I ain't one a them gitridofits, more like a hangontuit I have a new answer to "future or past". It's neither. My new answer is "forever"

Re: The Future or the past
Not antique, historic! Sounds better anyway. A historic event could happen tomorrow. So those older than me must be ancient? Relics? Prehistoric?

Re: The Future or the past
Walking a thin line here.
I come from a big family. My oldest sister would have just turned 68 (Nov 24, 1951) and my brother will be 50 (Jan 29, 1970). He's young enough to have been my sister's son. Y'all fit right in there. So how can I call either of you old? I dated a gal his age. People would comment she's a little young for me and say "She's the same age as my brother, not my daughter"

Re: The Future or the past
No way! What a coincidence. Same spread same years, right? I figured you were my oldest sister's age. Wait, are you the oldest?
I'm too inbred to know the difference. I'll have to ask my son. "Hey Dad, you up? I have a question for you"
