Got an nv4500
I finally got me an nv 4500. Can't wait to start getting it installed. Has anybody done this swap recently I know I looked at old forums a while ago just wondering if any new ones were around. And if anybody knew how much I should be expecting to have a rear drive shaft made not worried about the front one right now just the rear once I can get it driving with the new transmission

Re: Got an nv4500
Currently the truck has a th350/205. Not exactly sure on the year, the guy said he thought it came from a 96. I read your thread on when you installed the nv 4500 into one of your trucks and I like how you used the original style bellhousing is that still holding up? I'm hoping to do the same thing I've looked over your thread a couple times.

Re: Got an nv4500
Going from an auto to manual is a bit of work.
The shifter tower says it's an early (93-95) trans, and not a 96. 96 and later had a squareish shifter mount. I actually have a 96 GAMM trans in the garage. The trans to BH lower bolt hole centers are slightly more than 9.75" on the early transmissions. I think I see a barcode sticker on the top. Try to get the 4-letter code off it. Advance Adapters has a NV4500 document and a general conversion guide. I have the NW4500 doc pdf but haven't found it on their site in a long time. It's called NV015 The 4x4 trans output isn't going to work with the NP205 w/o machining the (205) case for a large bearing and swapping the input. There are figure-8 adapters to bolt it to the trans though. Quote from the doc: "During the first two years of the NV4500, Chevy offered this 5 speed with a 6.34:1 1st gear; 2nd 3.44:1; 3rd 1.71:1; 4th 1:1 ratio, and a 27% overdrive. It was also the first year that Chevy changed the bellhousing-to-transmission bolt pattern. This transmission is ideal when converting your vehicle, providing an ultra-low 1st gear. GM, however, only produced this particular ratio during these years. The major complaint of this 5 speed was stiff shifting and noise in 3rd gear." |

Or a passenger drop 241.
A couple links for adapting to the 205 for grins... https://www.advanceadapters.com/prod...kit-replth350/ https://high-impact.net/product/27-0...50-with-nv4500 |
