suburban rear side door manual window regulator

I have a dilemma. The PO of my new suburban changed out the drivers side, side rear door of my 91 suburban. New door has power window and super dark tint, other doors are manual with no tint, want all 4 the same. I can't seem to find a listing for a manual rear window regulator?? Are they the same as the front somehow?? I have two sets of rear doors all have the same, electric windows and super dark tint. The tint doesn't want to come off, possibly factory? How do I get it off? tried soap and water and a razor, no dice. Thanks!

I don't see rear listed on rockauto or LMC. Ebay or junkyard is your best bet. If a razor won't remove the tint it must be factory. The glass is easy enough to change when you change regulators.

Is the factory tint mixed in the glass then?

Re: suburban rear side door manual window regulator

Thanks for the info, it's been helpful. What about the rear door window regulators? Totally obsolete, can't even find a rusty POS one on E-bay? Looked around, not even a listing for one anywhere. Any chance a front will work?

The rear doors are much narrower, I would be surprised if they fit. Plus LMC nor Rock Auto showed them available but listed them for the front.

We have a classified section here. Best bet is to check it daily. Check ebay daily, you'll have to be creative about what years you search for and search several different ways. And check any junkyards near you. There was a time when square parts trucks were extremely common. We're not there anymore but they're nowhere near rare yet. Just be diligent about looking and you'll find one pretty quick.

And welcome to the forum. Post up a pic of the truck when you get a chance.

Re: suburban rear side door manual window regulator

It drives me nuts, I have 5 squarebodies, 2 of which are suburbans, one is a parts truck but it has power everything and tinted glass so I have a full set of tinted glass, but I don't really care for the dark tint, and I like (prefer) manual windows.I even had a third Sub that was same, tinted power. A neighbor has an 88 for sale for $300 that needs a motor but also has tinted, power. Can't get away from it. Suburbans are pretty common around here, I'll keep looking.....

Try looking on crewcab trucks. Rear doors interchange with the suburbans and I would feel they are more likely to have the manual window stuff, including glass.

Re: suburban rear side door manual window regulator

So it looks like a found a deal on a set of doors, all 6 for a more than fair price. If anyone is near Redding in Nor-Cal and needs squarebody doors, I'll be selling what I don't need, particularly the dark tinted glass. Cheap! Thanks for the help!
