My th350 is leakin and i believe it's the front seal. How hard is this to do? Would it be better to take it in? how much would it cost if i did it or if a mechanic did it? thanks, sorry for all the questions. Cory

You have to pull the tranny and remove the torque converter. After all of that, the seal is very easy to change.

It's a chore if you don't have a lift.

As I recall it was not difficult. $2 part. Hardest part is dropping the tranny. I am not a transmission expert but you might consider buying a transmission rebuild book to help you determine if you have other worn parts that are causing the seal to leak.

I just did mine, and like they say you will need to drop the tranny and remove the torque convertor. I replaced the convertor at the same time with one with a higher stall.

dropping the tranny is easy, but reinstalling is a little tricky when it come to lining the spline up on the convertor to the motor.

I puled my tranny with my motor so it was alot easier!!

When you get ready reinstall the tranny (especially if you don't have a lift) cut hte heads off of a couple of long starter bolts and put them in the outside bellhousing bolt holes to make lining everything up a lot easier.

Thanks for the quick response guys. I think i'm gonna have this one done. It's something i want to do but do not have the facility to do it in. The street in front of my house isn't all that level. haha. Anyone know how much something like this might run me?

alot of shops will try to sell ya a rebuilt saying the seal went due to bearings goin in it unless they can show ya play in it dont buy the new tranny

thanx for the info. My neighbor owns a paint and body shop but does some of that kind of work too. So i'm thinkin he won't BS me around. You'd hope anyway right? haha. Thanks a lot for the advice and quick replys.
