Netural safety switch

I'm putting a tilt column in my 68. I bought a new neutral safety switch and also have an old one.when I install the switch in the column hole, the tits on the switch doesn't seem to be deep enough to make contact.

Any ideas? Thanks, Larry

Is it a truck tilt?

Are the tabs the same length on the two switches? The metal tab inside the tube that activates the switch isn't bent or broken off is it.

I don't know if the NSS is the same or not. Is the NSS down toward the bottom of the column or is it up about where the pedals would be? If someone has modified the column and moved the NSS down to the bottom they may have messed it up when they cut the tab in the inner tube. Can you post some pictures of the top side of the column overall and the hole/s where the NSS mounts? You can also compare the tilt with your stock column.

Good deal. I did not know that they were different. Thanks for the follow up.

A good "rule of thumb" is to install a NSS that matches the column exactly, and then modify the wiring harness/plug to fit the switch..
