Dying until warm
My truck fires right up but then it dies unless i keep a little on the gas or I shift into any gear, once it is warm it doesn't die anymore. Anyone have suggestions? Timing? Idle Screw? I have a 350 rebuilt to a 383 with a holley 650 carb. Thank you.

Yep, it sounds like your choke isn't working or you are not setting it before you start the truck. More information would be nice. Do you have the choke hooked up? Manual or electric choke? If it is an electric choke you need to turn the key on, wait ten or fifteen seconds then push the accelerator pedal all the way to the floor and let up on it before you try to start the truck. If the choke is working correctly that will set the choke to the closed position and set the idle cam on the high idle position. LockDoc

Re: Dying until warm
If an electric choke is working properly, you don't even need the key on to set the choke; just depress the accelerator pedal. The electric current is only used to open the choke.

Re: Dying until warm
Start with like Warren said and adjust the choke. In the cool of the morning before you try to start it and the key off....Here's how I do it
