Opinions/advice on wiring harnesses
I’m at a point where I need to install a new wiring harness in my truck.
I’m asking for opinions/advice on the different companies, an most importantly, the ease of installing it. What I’d really like to here is “This One has all the wires marked and comes with an easy to follow diagram, and written instructions”. Any and all advice is encouraged and welcomed. Thanks |

Re: Opinions/advice on wiring harnesses
Check M&H they will make one to your needs or specs. I.e. hei, internal regulator, etc.

Re: Opinions/advice on wiring harnesses
I went AAW and got a discount because I am a member of this site.
I found it to be a great hardness . Every wire color coded , lettered for the location and extra circuits for anything I want to add later on. Very comprehensive wiring diagram and clear instructions . |

Re: Opinions/advice on wiring harnesses
I got the EZ Wire harness. If you're looking for complete instructions, this isn't the harness for you. I got it because I like the single pass-through on the firewall (I can't remember if it's 1" or 1 1/4") which will fit perfectly in the hole left when I removed the TCS on my 72. I haven't installed it yet, so I can't say anything about length or completeness.

Re: Opinions/advice on wiring harnesses
What are you wanting in a harness? If a stock replacement, use either American auto wire or M and H, I have used both and they are excellent and just like original plug and play, but they are expensive but well worth it! I have recently used the 22 circuit harness offered by speedway motors on amazon for $189 and had great results for two restomod 67 trucks and my wife’s 62 nova wagon. Only down side in my opinion with this harness is that it does not use a bulk head as stock and the terminals are cheap, but if you spend a little you can get solder type or at least shrink type terminals and it greatly improves the harness. Everything is labeled and easy to read, comes with some terminal housings (headlights, headlight switch ignition switch for late model) and if you have your old harness to pull some odd terminals you are good. Takes about 8-9 hours from start to finish, maybe a little longer depending on detail you put into it, wrapping wires, split loom or flex cover. It is easy and if you get hung up a schematic is a google search away.
