stepside questions

I was wondering if someone could tell me if you can take a long stepside side panel and cut them down for use on a short step? If not how hard is it to find a fairly decent short step on the east coast. My bedsides can't be fixed without a whole lot of bondo and junk. I know you can buy aftermarket but I would really like original metal. thanks

Cutting the long ones down would be alot of work. (along with cutting there'd be a ton of welding. You'd be better off finding another pair.

Most of the originals are gonna have rust around where the fenders bolt on at. I bought some from Chevy Duty and they were great.
