steering column help
ok guys, in an effort to try and get the steering shaft off the rag joint, i started taking parts off. i loosened the clamp, see picture, and was able to separate the shaft to get the rag joint off now, i cannot seem to find the holes that the clamp pictured goes into to to get it back on. any help would be most appreciated.

Re: steering column help
I don't know if it was blind luck or what, but I was taking the steering column apart in the cab thinking I needed to turn something there. I had to shift the car from park to reverse to get one of the parts off, and low and behold the damn shaft moved and the holes lined up. No clue why, but I am happy as hell that it worked out, and we are back on the road At lease for now. LOL. Have a great weekend all, time for a beer or three.

Good deal, glad it fell into place for you. The threaded hole is in the lower bearing retainer. The retainer either turned or slid up into the tube a little bit and returned to it's original position when you moved the shift lever. LockDoc

Re: steering column help
Thanks, I am sure glad it did because I had no clue on how I was going to get it back in place. LOL. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good.
As a side note, that damn steering shaft would not move up to save my life. That was not the one and a half hour job that Brothers said it would be on the video. LOL. |
