86 grill on 82

New to the forums. I've just purchased a 82 Silverado and am leaning toward changing the grill to a 1986.
I've searched the forums and found a lot of info on grill swaps but did not find a thread saying these years were interchangeable.

thanks for any information you can provide

Re: 86 grill on 82

If you just mean the center grill, then just get the grill unscrew the old one and screw in the new one. If you mean headlight look and all, then you'll need wiring, and some mounting hardware. to hold lights/turn signals. I do not remember what all pieces you need for that type of swap.

My 81 has the front end off an 85 or 86 and when the center grill disintegrated, I just got an 81 grill and screwed it inplace of the other one.

Correct. Most just do the Center piece.
