What do you call this transmission/flywheel cover? 1972 K10 - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Hi Guys,

So my recently purchased 1972 K10 is missing this cover over the flywheel/torque converter...it's a SBC/TH350 combo. I want to track one down...not sure if this is something easily found new or something I need to start scrounging for...? What exactly would this be called? I suppose I'll have to figure out the bolt thread too. Any tips appreciated! Thanks

I have a cast aluminum one as well but would have to dig in the shop to find it.

They made from ABS plastic so if you ever break one four wheeling you'll have a back up...You do have to notch out for the starter, no big deal because they're plastic. They normally go on with four 1/4-20 bolts but the light weight plastics stay on with zip ties as well, no hassle...Or buy the steel that bends and never lines up for twice the cost...

As for the cover you're asking about, I've only heard them called a dust shield/cover.

Bolts are actually sheet metal screws, 3/8 head with threads approx the same as the phillips screws that hold the tin cover under the steering column.

Pictures of screws here, you will have to expand the photo.....

All of the ones I have ever taken off were 1/4-20 also....
