Can someone tell me how the rear brake lines on my 72 K10 should be routed? (Pics) - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Recently purchased this truck...trying to go through it, order parts, and make her safe to drive!

It has been lifted 4", and previously had a body lift (which has been removed). It looks like the PO didn't bother to extend brake lines (front or rear - got the front figured out - I think).

Is the bracket where the top of the rear flex line connects look 'normal' to you? Or is it 'bent up'?

It looks like they just removed the hold down bracket from the rear diff and bent the lines up to make it work. I plan on ordering new hard lines and a new extended rear brake line so I can get it back on the diff. The stock flex line is around 13-14", not sure how much longer I need to go? Looking at parts online, it appears an 18" line is what is called for with a 4" lift. Not sure if that will be too short though if indeed the upper bracket has been bent up and away?

Also, should there be 2 tabs holding the brake line to the diff (1 on each side)?

I've been looking at the extended lines offered by Inlinetube, ORD, and others. I don't suppose anyone knows of an oem style rubber line that is extended? I found the thread in which Special-K gave the part #s for extended front lines using C20 parts (awesome - going to buy them) but it looks like for the rear aftermarket is the only option?

71 K1500, I should have taken 3 or 4 times as many photos as I did when I took my truck apart...

Huh, that's quite a bit different. I wonder if it changed from 71 to 72? Very helpful though, thank you!

71 is different than 72.
Your frame bracket is bent, i cant tell which way though in your pictures

The lines attach at 2 places on the rear axle cover.
The thin one attaches same bolt as the 71 posted.
The heavy bracket attaches to a stud bolt, one bolt down from top bolt and to right side of cover.

Thanks Randy. I think it is likely bent 'up'.

Any idea where I can find the little left side bracket/clamp? Haven't had any luck with the parts sites or inline tube, etc. I suppose I could make something...

No matter which way I hold the darn phone it uploads them another way. If I take a picture and save it to my gallery , which would post them the correct way then it won't let me upload them. Something is going on with the web page. I contacted the administration but it's still doing it.But yes the arm is bent up and should hang down.
