What axle do I have?

hey folks,

I spent a couple hours cleaning the axle on my '62 C10 off to look for identification numbers..... but didn't find 'em. I took a photo of the cover to try and find it visually on one of the online guides that I've seen....... to no avail. So what do y'all suggest?

Re: What axle do I have?

Thanks guys. That's what I was leaning towards, but given that this is my first build, I wanted to be certain.

Re: What axle do I have?

coworker said that the differential in this axle had some weakness issues due to it being able to be unbolted from both the front and rear. Any truth to that? Since I'm switching out the motor from the I6 235 that came with it to a 327, will that cause any serious issues?

I've never heard of a drop out center section being a weakness. The Ford 9 inch uses that sytle and is one of the most popular drag racing axles. I think finding parts for that if it needs any would be a bigger worry than putting a 327 in front of it.

Re: What axle do I have?

I wouldn't worry about the strength of the Eaton HO32/33 behind a 327. I ran one for 6 years behind a 300hp 327 in a '55 4x4.
